Impact
United Nations Global Compact for Migration Includes Indicators from IMISEM Project
We are proud that our efforts to collect and systematize data on migration policies for both emigrants and immigrants across regions have contributed to a process of global governance of migration with the United Nations (UN) taking several of our originally developed indicators on board for measuring the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM)!
On 5 December, 2024 the launch of the UN Secretary-General’s Report on the progress of implementing the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) marked the release of the final list of voluntary indicators, with ten of them being adopted from the IMISEM Project. The list was agreed upon through a process of regional consultations led by the United Nations Network on Migration, coordinated by UN DESA and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The process not only included government representatives, who will be reporting on their implementation progress, but included members from civil society, trade unions, academia, and UN entities.
